Inflated power bills in Pakistan continue to add financial strain on households, and higher prices for goods and services, impacting all citizens, and now NEPRA announced Rs 2.56 per unit increase in power tariffs.
As people across the country are affected, electricity consumers will face an additional financial strain due to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) move to add Rs 2.56 per unit.
The surge, part of monthly fuel adjustment for June, will be reflected in August’s electricity bills. Lifeline consumers and K-Electric customers are exempt from this increase.
Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) originally requested Rs 2.63 per unit increase, but national power regulatory authority approved slightly lower increase of Rs2.56 per unit.
This adjustment will impose an extra burden of over Rs 30 billion on consumers nationwide, compounding the financial pressures from rising energy costs.
