DASKA: The body of an 8-year-old boy, who went missing on December 26, was found in a pond near Dhadu Basra tehsil Daska police area of Punjab.
According to details, the body of Faizan, the son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Mouza Dhadu Basra, was found today in a village pond.
Sources further said receiving information police reached the spot and took out the body from the pond and shifted it to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. A farmer of the village was going to fetch fodder for his animals in the morning when he saw the body of a child in the pond and informed the family, sources added.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased boy claimed that their son could not had traveled so far out of the village. The minor had been raped and thrown into the pond, they claimed, adding that Saddar police station was informed about the missing case of the child earlier.
The father of the minor owns a tea shop in Mandiki village, said that his family was living in poverty. Faizan was a second class student, he added. Sexual violence against minors is rampant in Lahore as horrific incidents of violence keep on being reported every other day.
Recently, a six-year-old girl had been assaulted after strangling to death by two suspects including her cousin in the Sundar area of Lahore.
The suspects had dumped her body into a pond to hide their crime. Two weeks back, an alleged serial rapist who sexually assaulted six minor girls in the Sarai Mughal area of Pattoki was arrested by the police.
A case had been registered against the suspect. Police said the suspect used to lure girls by different means. The victims were between 10 and 12 years of age and he had been arrested on the identification of the victims.
A report by Sahil, a non-governmental organization, disclosed that at least eight children fell victim to sexual abuse daily on an average in the country.
