NAWABSHAH: Eight people were killed 45 others were injured in a road accident near Nawabshah in Shaheed Benazirabad district.
The horrific accident occurred when two buses collided near Balochpur Stop in the town of Daur near Nawabshah early on Sunday morning.
Eight people were killed on the spot while dozens other, including women and children, suffered injured. The injured were shifted to the Taluka Hospital Daur and People’s Medical University Hospital tp receive medical assistance.
Police said a bus was travelling from Karachi to Jhang, Punjab whereas the other was going to Punjab from Karachi. The cause of the accident is said to over speeding and negligence.
A week earlier, at least 12 people were killed and 15 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus overturned on M-2 Motorway near Kallar Kahar, some 133km away from Islamabad.
According to rescuers and police, the Jhang-bound bus, coming from Rawalpindi, overturned due to break failure on M-2 motorway near Kallar Kahar. Rescue sources said that at least 10 people, including women and children, were killed on the spot while 13 others sustained injuries.
Police and rescue teams arrived on the spot and immediately launched rescue operation. The deceased and injured were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
