Eight passengers tragically lost their lives early Sunday morning when a speeding bus overturned on Maripur Road near Truck Stand in Karachi. The victims, including three women and three children, were en route to a picnic at Howksbay, a popular beach resort in Karachi.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the bus driver lost control due to overspeeding, causing the vehicle to veer onto the footpath and overturn.
Rescue sources have identified the deceased as follows: 40-year-old Sughra, wife of Ghulam Ali; 45-year-old Sadia, wife of Ahmed; 6-year-old Sakina, daughter of Manzoor Alam; 4-year-old Zainat, daughter of Hayat; 10-year-old Kanza, daughter of Ahmed; and 14-year-old Qadeer, son of Abdul Jabbar.
Rescue personnel said 12 people also sustained injuries including women and children. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi while the dead bodies have also been shifted to the hospital.
As per the hospital sources, some injured are in critical condition.
