ISLAMABAD: A meeting of inter-provincial education ministers chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has agreed to close educational institutions for a month due to coronavirus.
All the educational institutions will be closed from 26th November i.e from Thursday. On the occasion, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that all educational institutions will be reopened on 11th January after 6 weeks when conditions improve, Shafqat Mahmood said.
Shafqat Mahmood further said that from 25th December to 10th January, all educational institutions will have a complete winter break. Home learning will continue from 26th November to 24th December, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said.
The federal government proposed to close educational institutions for a month, which was agreed to by the education ministers of all the provinces. The meeting is discussing the duration of school closures.
A meeting of inter-provincial education ministers is underway at the National Command and Operations Center under the chairmanship of Shafqat Mahmood.
Earlier, a meeting of inter-provincial education ministers was held on 16th November and the education ministry had sent proposals to the provinces regarding educational institutions on the rise of coronavirus cases.
Yesterday, Shafqat Mahmood had said that important decisions related to educational institutions would be announced tomorrow. In a post on Twitter, he said that a meeting of inter-provincial education ministers would be held tomorrow in which decisions regarding educational institutions would be taken.

He said that all the decisions would be announced in a press conference tomorrow at 1230 p.m. The federal ministry of education had sent three different proposals to the provinces regarding educational sessions, examinations, and closure of educational institutions.
