A drone carrying illicit drugs crashed near Lahore, exposing a contemporary twist on drug trafficking.
The drone, carrying 6kgs of heroin, crashed near Balloki Kahna in Rasoolpura. Police said that the drone’s size was larger than usual. It crashed into the fields of a landlord identified as Rozdar.
Police said that it took the drone and the drugs, worth millions of rupees, into its custody.
According to the police, the 6kg of pills are reportedly worth millions of rupees.
The drone and drugs were seized by the police, and a probe into who was flying the drone and where it came from has started.
A hexacopter was visible in video provided to Aaj News. A lot of comparable six-rotor drones have a payload capacity of 5 kg.
Yellow packets were also seen attached to the drone in the video.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) said it managed to net 1652 drug smugglers during the last 12 months across the country, and registered 1678 cases against those accused.
According to an ANF Headquarters spokesman, ANF recovered over 157.551 metric tons drugs during the period.
