LAHORE: The industrialists have announced a strike on December 4 on issues including downsizing of industries and cross-subsidy, which will be held across Sindh and Balochistan, including Karachi.
According to the details, industrialists of Sindh and Balochistan are ready to strike on December 4. Industrialist Javed Balwani said that the one-day strike will be extended if the demands are not met.
Javed Bilwani said, “The factory owners are facing difficulties in running the units, none of the units are being run. The owners are not getting new orders, the government should not take the matter to a dead end from which there can be no return.”
He said that fertilizers are being cross-subsidized despite warnings from the IMF, which is a deplorable treatment of profit-making industries. Cross-subsidy will lead to the closure of all industries. The government should follow our formula, he added.
It should be noted that even earlier, industrialists had threatened to observe “No Export Day” three times a week from next month and stop exports in protest against the increase in gas prices.
Last month, industrialists said that the increase in cost of production is making it more difficult to do business and if this trend continues, it could prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the industrial sector.
