WASHINGTON: The White House has said that United States President Donald Trump has not been tested for coronavirus despite being in close contact with multiple lawmakers who were now self-quarantining.
Addressing a press conference, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said, “The President has not received COVID-19 testing because he has neither had prolonged close contact with any known confirmed COVID-19 patients nor does he have any symptoms.”
He further said, “President Trump remains in excellent health, and his physician will continue to closely monitor him.”
Donald Trump also held media briefing earlier, but didn’t respond to the question of testing of coronavirus and left the briefing room.
The situation was alert when at least two lawmakers who recently met with Donald Trump announced that they were going into self-quarantine.
At least 26 people have died from the virus in US — 22 in Washington state, two in Florida and two in California.
