During the sacred observance of Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, Imam Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah of Masjid al-Haram delivered the annual sermon at Masjid Namirah, urging worshippers to devote themselves solely to Allah, stating: “Do not call upon anyone besides your Lord.”
While delivering the sermon, Imam Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah said that adopting taqwa (God-consciousness) is the mark of true believers; taqwa is the cause of goodness in both this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “O believers, worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot, then worship Him knowing that He sees you.”
During the sermon, Imam Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah said that Allah has power over all things. Establish prayer. Pay zakat. Fast during Ramadan and perform Hajj. O people, worship Allah so that you may become pious.
The Imam said: Do not call upon anyone besides your Lord. Fulfill the commands of Allah and obey Him. Taqwa brings success in this life and the next. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the final messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.
Imam Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah said that Allah has proclaimed: “Today I have perfected your religion for you and completed My favor upon you.” Zakat is a means to free oneself from miserliness. Modesty is a branch of faith. Fulfilling promises is also part of faith.
He said: O believers, whenever you speak, speak well. Whenever you face hardship, pray to Allah—through prayer, Allah turns sorrow into joy. There are people who always ask Allah for wealth.
He added: You are guests of Allah here, and you have come to perform the rites of Hajj. With Allah, taqwa and sincerity hold high status. Prayer is the weapon of the believer. Perform Hajj and Umrah for the sake of Allah. Serve the pilgrims. There are also those who compete in doing good deeds. O Allah, make us among those who walk the straight path.
