In Sindh’s Sehwan district, a 20-year-old disabled girl, residing in a slum area, was sexually assaulted by two men, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to a report, Sindh Police stated that the accused forcibly took the girl, along with her wheelchair, from the doorstep of her home to their house, where they committed the assault.
A case has been registered at Sehwan Police Station on the complaint of the girl’s uncle, Amjad Ali Lashari. The case names Ali Raza and Ahmed Ali Machhi as the accused.
Police stated that the incident occurred seven days ago. One of the named suspects has been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the second. According to police officials, the girl has been shifted to Abdullah Shah Hospital in Sehwan for medical examination.
It is worth noting that cases of sexual assault are increasing in Pakistan. Most women who suffer such violence avoid filing reports due to fear of shame.
Even when cases are registered, police performance is often disappointing. The public states that in most cases, victims do not get justice, while the accused take advantage of weak laws.
