KARACHI: During the holy month of Ramadan, markets in Karachi are crowded from Iftar until Sehri, as Eid is just around the corner.
According to various shop owners, the peak time is around 10 pm and the markets remain open until later in the night. However, they expressed sadness at the decline in the number of buyers compared to previous years.
This year, the markets are open for Eid shopping and are being crowded by three types of Eid shoppers.
The first type seems to be quite selective and has high expectations for the designs and quality of the clothing. They are willing to visit a big brand clothing store, but are easily disappointed and willing to leave in frustration.
The second type appears to be more practical and budget-conscious. They are willing to bargain for simple clothing and accessories, and focus on affordable items for their children. They appear to be the most common, as they seem to be focused on practical and affordable purchases for their families.
The third kind seems to be more interested in the festive atmosphere and social experience of Eid shopping, rather than purchasing specific items. They enjoy window shopping, snacking, and soaking up the atmosphere.
