In an era where smartphones dominate daily life, concerns over their impact on mental and physical health continue to grow.
However, a new study has revealed that a simple setting on your smartphone can reduce your brain age by 10 years and significantly improve cognitive function.
The study, conducted by the University of Texas, found that turning off mobile internet for some time each day enhances concentration, creativity, sleep quality, and overall mental health.
Researchers examined 467 participants with an average age of 32, all of whom were habitual smartphone users. These individuals were instructed to install an app that blocked mobile internet for a month while still allowing calls and texts.
The results were striking. Within just two weeks, participants reported greater happiness, improved life satisfaction, and a stronger sense of mental well-being. The study also suggested that this practice could slow down age-related brain degeneration and even reverse brain aging by a decade.
On average, smartphone users spend five hours a day on their devices, often engaged in endless scrolling and social media browsing. By disconnecting from mobile internet for short periods, users experienced not just better mental health but also improved sleep patterns.
