In the 2000s, Tom Cruise turned down the role of Iron Man in the movie with the same name. He did not grab the role because he did not think it would work.
Cruise once had confirmed that there were talks about playing iron Man, “It’s not happening. Not with me, no … They came to me at a certain point and, when I do something, I want to do it right,” he was quoted as saying.

Interestingly, Downey recently revealed how Cruise was the first choice to play Charlie Chaplin in director Richard Attenborough’s Chaplin. however, the movie went to Downey and he also received his first Academy Award nomination for it. Moreover, Tom was also offered movie ‘Salt’, Phillip Noyce’s 2010 action-crime-mystery. Eventually, he did Knight and Day instead.
