Shahid Afridi, the interim chief of the National Selection Committee has revealed that he can’t select Sharjeel khan without PCB Chairman Najam Sethi’s approval, which is the main reason for the left arm opening batter’s exclusion from the team.
The interim chief of the National Selection Committee was giving a press conference at National Bank Cricket Arena on Thursday.
It should be noted that Batter Sharjeel Khan was suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for his alleged involvement in the Pakistan Super League spot-fixing scandal in 2017. He was banned for five years, with two and a half years as total suspension, while could take part in domestic cricket during later part of his suspension.
Born on December 20, 1989, in Hyderabad, Sindh, Sharjeel made his debut for the Pakistan national team in 2013 in an ODI against South Africa. He has represented Pakistan in all three formats of the game and was a regular member of the team before his suspension.
In domestic cricket, Sharjeel has played for various teams including Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, and Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), as well as for Karachi Blues and Sindh in the domestic first-class competition.
Sharjeel has had a successful career so far, scoring over 3,000 runs in international cricket and over 7,000 runs in domestic cricket. He is known for his aggressive style of play and his ability to score runs quickly.
