The Indian Air Force announced on X that it had conducted a series of precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting multiple locations in Pakistan’s Punjab province, including Nur Khan Air Base, Shorkot Air Base, and Murid Air Base.
The overnight operation, carried out between Friday and Saturday, reportedly involved the use of air-to-ground missiles.
Earlier reports emerged that India’s missile strike on Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi caused a large explosion, with witnesses describing smoke and fire following the impact. The airbase, which serves as a key transport hub for Pakistan’s military, was among several Pakistani military sites targeted in recent strikes. However, Pakistan’s military claims that most incoming missiles were intercepted, preventing significant damage and the base continues to function without interruption.
Independent satellite imagery from Chinese sources corroborated these claims, showing that Nur Khan sustained only minor damage, primarily to two vehicles—one of which was a fuel truck—and some scattered construction materials. The base remains operational.
Amid these developments, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the existing ceasefire agreement with India. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of resolving tensions through dialogue and mutual understanding.
“Pakistan remains committed to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement with India,” stated the ministry’s spokesperson, adding that, despite reported ceasefire violations by India in certain sectors, Pakistan has continued to exercise restraint.
