Denmark’s beauty queen Victoria Kjer Thelveg won the crown of Miss Universe 2024.
The finals of the annual beauty pageant were held in Mexico City on Saturday night, with beauty queens from different countries taking part in the competition, which started on Thursday, after which 30 of the 120 beauties were shortlisted.
Later, among the five finalists, 21-year-old Denmark’s Victoria Kjer Thelveg was declared Miss Universe 2024, she is the first Danish beauty queen to win the pageant.
Nigeria’s Chidima Adetsina was second, Mexico’s Maria Fernanda was third and Thailand’s Sachita Chuangsri was fourth.
28-year-old Ileana Marquez Pedroza of Venezuela (who is also a mother) made history by finishing fifth, while Malta’s Beatrice Njoia became the first woman over the age of forty to reach the grand final.
It should be noted that this year, for the first time in the 72-year history of Miss Universe, women over the age of 28 were also allowed to participate in the competition.
Last year, the Miss Universe Organization removed the age limit, for pregnant women or mothers and/or married women for the beauty pageant.
Many countries including Belarus, Eritrea, and the United Arab Emirates participated in the competition for the first time.
