ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League N Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has claimed that delay in the summary for the key appointment is a violation of constitution, and a ‘failure’.
Talking to a private TV Channel the other day, he said it was a failure that the summary for the key appointment was not moved as yet, without elaborating as to whose failure was it.

His statement came following claim by PMLN Senator Dr Afnan Ullah Khan took to Twitter saying the Defense Ministry has sent the summary of 5 senior Generals to PM House. His claim was denied within minutes by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif who, talking to media at Parliament House, said no summary had been moved and questions the haste at media’s end.
However, he too took to Twitter and said the process of appointing new Army Chief had been initiated and would be completed as per Constitution.
Later in the day, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi appeared on private TV channel warning that the prime minister could take notice of the delay in the summary. In yet another significant hint, Abbasi further claimed that it would be illegal to not include the name of an eligible person by replacing another person who is ineligible for the position.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi didn’t stop here, but went to the extent of adding that the prime minister had the authority to seek more names after receiving the summary.
