Heavy rainfall in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, has led to the closure of educational institutions becoming a significant issue. Social media has been rife with rumors on this matter, but now the provincial government has made a decision.
The Sindh government has finally given the authority to district deputy commissioners to close educational institutions during heavy rainfall, considering the difficulties faced by students and teachers in various parts of the province.
The Sindh Education Department has issued a letter to all district deputy commissioners in the province. The letter states that in situations arising from rainfall, the deputy commissioners will have the authority to declare holidays in educational institutions.
According to the Education Department, deputy commissioners can make decisions regarding holidays in educational institutions on their own. They are authorized to declare holidays in the district after consulting with the Education Department.
Following normal to heavy rains in Karachi a day earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday said more thundershowers were expected in some parts of city.
“Heavy rain is expected in some areas with strong wind and thunder in 24 hours,” said the Met Office.
