ISLAMABAD: Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar approached the Supreme Court on Saturday, seeking the suspension of the accountability court’s order of 11 November 2017, which had declared him offender and directed him to take over and put his assets on sale.
“This Honorable Court may be pleased to suspend, on behalf of Ishaq Dar, the execution of the order of 11 November 2017, the declaration given pursuant to it and any prosecutions, measures or acts taken pursuant to it,” said a petition lodged by Advocate Qazi Misbahul Hassan.

Mr Dar also requested, by a separate application, that the present case be put before the Supreme Court in the week starting on January 20, ideally on January 24, for an expeditious disposition of the issue.
Through its Nov 11 decision, Islamabad’s accountability court No 1 had found Ishaq Dar to be a proclaimed delinquent for his prolonged absence from the proceedings against him in the case.
