The federal government has officially banned dance performances to Indian songs in Pakistani theaters and has instructed provincial authorities to initiate legal action against individuals participating in such acts.
The federal authorities have stated that these actions aim to counter what they describe as the hegemonic ambitions of the Hindutva-inspired Indian regime.
This policy shift also coincides with a recent surge in tensions between the two countries, marked by unprovoked attacks carried out by India on multiple Pakistani cities.
The Federal Minister for Information has expressed serious concern over indecent performances in stage dramas, emphasizing that legal proceedings must be initiated against anyone engaging in dance routines to Indian music within theater productions.
Moreover, the government has mandated that producers be held legally accountable for any stage performance deemed immoral.
These directives follow the existing ban on the screening of Indian films in Pakistan and the airing of Indian songs on FM radio stations. These restrictions were originally imposed in response to acts of hostility by the Indian government toward Pakistan.
