DHAKA: At least 35 people are reported to have been killed due to cyclone Sitarang with its impact affecting Indian Assam too. In Bangladesh about one crore people are forced to live without electricity.
Reports from multiple sources suggested that Cyclone Sitang devastated the southern coast and central parts of Bangladesh, and completed its landfall in the early hours of Tuesday. It had now weakened into a tropical depression over Bangladesh.
Media reports numbers and unofficial counts said the cyclone killed 35 people, including leveling homes and other infrastructure, uprooting trees and disrupting road communication and power supplies.
