KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the cyclonic storm ‘Maha’ is reportedly 675 kilometers away from Karachi.
Maha over the east-central Arabian Sea has moved north-northwestwards and was located at Latitude 19.0 North and Longitude 64.3 East with maximum sustained surface winds of 170-190 kmph.
The PMD stated the coastal belt of Karachi is expected to receive light rainfall under the influence of Cyclone Maha.

Tropical Cyclone Maha is likely to recurve in east-northeast direction towards Indian Gujarat.
According to the PMD, currently, there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal area, however, fishermen are advised not to venture in deep-sea till 6th November.
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that the cyclone, previously forecast to go northwestward in the centre of the Arabian Sea, is headed northeastwards by Tuesday morning.
Another cyclonic storm ‘Maha’ develops in Arabian Sea
It is expected to weaken gradually into a tropical storm in the next 48 hours.
The cyclone is expected to make landfall on the northwest Indian coast by Wednesday or Thursday.
Storm Maha is likely to make landfall along the Gujarat coast in India on the night of 6th November.
The threat of Cyclone Maha comes just a week after Cyclone Kyarr caused a tidal surge and raised the sea level along Karachi’s coastline.
Coastal localities and villages of Hawkes Bay, Ibrahim Hyderi, Lath Basti, Rehman Para, Rehri Goth, and others were inundated, while seawater also entered parts of Defence Housing Authority Golf Club.
