The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bajaur has imposed a three-day curfew in 16 villages of Tehsil Loe Mamond as security forces prepare to launch a targeted operation against militants.
According to an official notification, the curfew will remain in place from July 29 to July 31. Residents have been strictly instructed to stay indoors during this period to avoid any untoward incidents. The district administration warned that violators would bear full responsibility for any personal or financial losses incurred due to non-compliance.
The curfew has been enforced in the following villages: Bad-e-Siah, Tarkho, Irab, Gat, Agra, Khurchai, Dawagai, Kalan, Legharai, Kitkot, Gilllai, Nakhtar, Zarai, Dambarai, Amanata, and Zaghaai. Citizens have been advised to contact the district administration or the police control room immediately in case of emergencies.
This action follows a violent protest in the Tirah valley of Khyber tribal district, where several people were killed and injured during a firing incident on Sunday. The protest erupted after a young girl lost her life due to a mortar shell blast. Angry tribesmen, including students from schools and madrassas, demanded that the military ensure the protection of civilians during anti-militant operations and called for peace restoration in the area.
