LAHORE: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police on Saturday arrested 13 terrorists including three key commanders of Daesh terror outfit.
Law-enforcement agencies conducted raids in various parts of the province due to threat of terrorism. The CTD conducted intelligence-based operations in various districts of Punjab including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Kasur, Multan, and Mandi Bahauddin.
CTD Spokesman said the arrested terrorists were plotting dangerous activities. The authorities launched a thorough investigation and filed cases against the suspects.
During the operation, a heavy cache of arms and ammunition including explosive materials, detonators, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), safety fuses, and a substantial amount of cash were recovered from their possession.
The suspects were identified as Jalat Khan, Jannat Khan, Kashif Rasool, Ghulam Rehman, Asrar, Nazir, Abdul Salam, Aamir, Asad, Ameer and Anwar, officials said.
It is worth mentioning that during the combing operation this week in Lahore, the CTD reportedly arrested 34 suspects while a total of 4,113 individuals were interrogated during the process.
Police officials said CTD is working towards the goal of Safer Punjab and is determined to root out the scourge of terrorism.
