CTD arrest two Afghan nationals involved in murder of police official

ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorisms Department (CTD) of police on Friday claimed to have apprehended two Afghan nationals in the murder of an ASI in Islamabad.

According to the sources, a CTD team acting on an intelligence report carried out a raid at a house in Golra Sharif area of Islamabad and nabbed tow Afghan nationals after a shootout.

The CTD officials said when the police team surrounded the house, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire at the team. Meanwhile, two of the outlaws managed to escape from the scene.

However, the police apprehended two Afghan nationals from the house and recovered five hand grenades, two pistols and a huge quantity of ammunition from their possession.

During the initial investigations, the accused confessed to the killing of the police official in Islamabad. The arrested killers were identified as Sajjad alias Chocho and Noor Muhammad alias Normay.

Earlier, Unidentified motorcyclists had opened fire at a police check-post in Islamabad, killing assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mohsin Zafar on May 26.

According to police, the sub-inspector had been posted at change 26 within the remits of Tarnol police station, when armed motorcyclists had killed him. Police had said Zafar died on the spot while the attackers managed to flee the scene.
