Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his commitment to Al-Nassr, signing a new two-year contract that will keep him at the Saudi Pro League club until after his 42nd birthday.
The 40-year-old Portugal captain, who joined the Riyadh-based side in December 2022 following a high-profile and controversial departure from Manchester United, had originally been set to see his contract expire at the end of June. Speculation surrounding a potential exit has now been put to rest.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Ronaldo confirmed the extension, writing:
“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”
While Al-Nassr have not secured additional domestic league titles during Ronaldo’s tenure, the legendary forward has made a massive individual impact, leading the league in scoring for two consecutive seasons. He netted 35 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions last season and has accumulated 99 goals in 111 matches for the club overall.
Ronaldo is now inching closer to a historic milestone—1,000 career goals—with a current combined total of 938 goals for club and country.
His recent success also includes helping Portugal clinch the UEFA Nations League title just weeks ago. The former Real Madrid, Juventus, Sporting CP, and Manchester United star is now expected to aim for an extraordinary sixth World Cup appearance, set to take place next summer.
Ronaldo’s extended stay is another sign of the Saudi Pro League’s growing pull in global football, as it continues to attract and retain elite talent.
