A movie titled Case of Kondana, originally made in the Kannada language and available on Amazon Prime, has recently been dubbed in Hindi and is now available on YouTube.
The film is a crime thriller focusing on two main cases. The first involves a series of murders in the city, which are under police investigation. The second follows the accidental death of a street vendor caused by a police officer. The movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes and is available in both its original language and Hindi.
The storyline presents two parallel narratives. The first case, involving the murders, lacks a strong motive and feels unnecessarily prolonged, contributing little to the overall plot. The second case is far more engaging, especially in the last 40-50 minutes, where the tension escalates as the police officer’s attempts to cover up his mistake come to light. These moments provide emotional intensity and a stronger connection to the characters.
The production quality is decent, and the background score aligns well with the scenes, though some sound effects feel overdone. The lead actors perform well, but a few side characters fall short in their roles. The Hindi dubbing is effective, but the decision to give the street vendor a Bhojpuri accent, seemingly due to his socio-economic background, comes across as unnecessary and stereotypical.
The film is family-friendly, with no vulgar or inappropriate scenes. While the final segment is intense and engaging, the initial portions feel overly stretched and less impactful. A focused narrative on the second case could have elevated the overall experience. The movie has moments of brilliance but doesn’t consistently captivate the audience.
