KARACHI: Karachi traffic police authorities on Wednesday announced a crackdown against those breaking rules regarding traffic signals, one-way traffic will start from 17 January across Sindh province.
Karachi Police Chief, Ghulam Nabi Memon in a statement, said checking will start on Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at 100 places in the metropolitan. The Police Chief said drivers traveling on the wrong side of the road will be arrested and cases will be registered against them under section-279.
In December last year, Deputy Inspector General Traffic Javed Ali Mehar had confirmed that more than 3.1 million citizens were issued challans over traffic violations in Karachi.
The police officials revealed traffic police had challaned 0.45 million citizens in a four-month period during the previous campaign. The officials detailed that more than 3.1 million challans were issued this year over violation of traffic laws.
The city traffic police officer had warned violators from facing hefty fines and jail terms over neglecting to follow regulations. traffic police officials were of the opinion that the decision was kind of a beginning to address and reduce road mishaps.
