The long march of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, which had departed from Quetta for Islamabad, was stopped by police in Muzaffargarh, after which two deputy leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and several workers were arrested.
According to details, the leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami intended to go to Islamabad to demonstrate political strength, but this action was taken to maintain law and order in the capital.
Participants of the long march had departed from Loralai this morning, passing through Dera Ghazi Khan and heading toward Multan, where the police stopped them.
The police arrested 11 individuals, including two deputy leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, which has prompted strong protests from Jamaat-e-Islami leaders.
It is worth noting that the long march from Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan to Islamabad began two days ago from Quetta under the leadership of the provincial emir of Jamaat-e-Islami and member of the provincial assembly, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch.
Jamaat-e-Islami, condemning the arrest of its workers and leaders, has stated that this action by the government is contrary to democratic principles.
