KARACHI: Sindh government has announced new restrictions to halt the spread of the coronavirus amid a surge in the virus infection.
According to a notification issued here on Wednesday, the provincial government imposed a complete ban on indoor, outdoor wedding ceremonies from April 6.
All kinds of gatherings (indoor, outdoor) will be banned with immediate effect, the provincial authorities said. “This will include all social, cultural, political, sports and other events,” as per the notification.
The Sindh government also announced to shut all public parks, cinemas, shrines and imposed a ban on dine-in services at restaurants. Outdoor dining will be allowed till 10:00 pm
According to a notification issued in this regard, the following measures will be taken:
1-Indoor dining will be prohibited
2-All sports, festivals will be totally banned
3-Shrines, cinemas, parks and music centers shut down
4-All indoor activities/marriages will be prohibited.
5-Outdoor activities with a maximum of 300 people will be allowed till 8 pm
6-50 percent work from home policy declared necessary
7-Intercity public transport to operate at 50% of capacity
8-The shops which are necessary will remain open for 24 hours
Last week, the National Command Operation Centre (NCOC) had imposed a ban on all kinds of gatherings with immediate effect. It directed that the wedding ceremony will be banned from April 5.
The NCOC said these decisions will be implemented in districts and cities with 8% positivity percentage (three days rolling average).
Pakistan recorded 4,757 cases from COVID-19 as the situation continues to worsen from the coronavirus despite the restriction imposed by the government.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the coronavirus has claimed 78 more lives across the country during the past 24 hours as the overall death toll reaches 14,434.
The total number of cases recorded in the country has reached 667,957. The number of active cases has reached 50,397 while 3,197 people are in critical condition as hospital occupancy rise in many parts of the country. The positivity rate has increased and now stands at 10.16 percent.
A total of 43,965 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Since the detection of the first COVID-19 case in the country, overall 10,197,329 tests have been conducted so far while 603,126 cases have been recorded so far.
