LAHORE: The home series between Pakistan and New Zealand that was scheduled in Ireland is likely to be postponed due to the coronavirus.
The series between Pakistan and New Zealand was scheduled in Ireland in the months of June and July. Reportedly, the announcement of postponement will be made in the next few days.
Pakistan and New Zealand were supposed to play three one day and three T20 matches scheduled in June and July.
Last month, Cricket Ireland (CI) Chief Executive Warren Deutrom admitted that there is a high risk that home series against New Zealand and Pakistan this summer will fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic.
Coronavirus has wreaked havoc around the world. Major sporting events have been cancelled or postponed. The most significant one that was due to take place in Japan this summer was FIFA.
The Asian Football Confederation has also agreed to postpone the Asian World Cup qualifying matches in March and June.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) top-tier football league in the US has extended the postponement of matches in the country until at least June 8 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Euro 2020 tournament has been postponed until 2021.
Moreover, FIFA also postponed all international football matches scheduled for June.
