WASHINGTON: The number of coronavirus cases across the world has surged to 13,459,235.
The pandemic has so far claimed 581,221 lives. According to the latest data, 7,849,326 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far.
The United States tops with nearly 3,545,077 cases and more than 139,143 deaths followed by Brazil with over 1,931,204 cases and more than 74,262 deaths.
India has reported 937,487 cases while 24,315 deaths due to the coronavirus. Over 739,947 people have infected while 11,614 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.

Peru has reported 333,867 cases while 12,229 deaths. In Chile, nearly 319,493 cases were confirmed, including more than 7,069 deaths.
Mexico has reported 36,327 deaths and 311,486 cases. Spain has recorded 28,409 fatalities and 303,699 infections.
South Africa has reported 4,346 deaths while over 298,292 people have been tested positive for the virus. The United Kingdom has reported 44,968 fatalities and 291,373 infections.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 13,211 in Iran as a confirmed number of cases is almost 262,173. Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 34,984 fatalities, while 243,344 infections.
Saudi Arabia has reported 237,803 cases of coronavirus, while 2,283 coronavirus deaths have been reported. Turkey reported 214,993 coronavirus cases and 5,402 fatalities.
Germany has reported 9,144 deaths and 200,766 infections. France has reported 30,029 deaths and 172,377 cases.
Canada reported 8,798 fatalities and 108,486 infections due to coronavirus. China has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,611 cases, with 78,693 recoveries.
