ISLAMABAD: Pakistan crossed the grim milestones of 1.5 million cases and 30,000 deaths on Sunday as the positivity ratio continued to drop significantly across the country.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 1,644 cases and 33 deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 1,500,320, surpassing the milestone of 1.5 million cases ever since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The death toll has reached 30,009. The positivity ratio was has dropped to 3.29% while the number of active cases has also reduced to 67,658. There were 49,866 tests were conducted in the previous day leading to new cases. There are 1,644 people who still remain in critical condition. Overall 1,402,653 people have recovered from the virus, including 3,653 in the past day.
Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases and remains the worst affected region. The province has recorded 563,967 cases and 8,029 deaths while there are 47,275 active cases.
Punjab has recorded 498,724 cases and 13,441 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province has reduced to 6,941. Islamabad has recorded 133,764 cases and 1,002 deaths while there are 1,145 active cases in the federal capital.
The number of cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands at 214,698 and 6,941 deaths, while Balochistan has reported 35,229 cases and 373 deaths. Gilgit Baltistan had recorded 11,339 cases and 189 deaths while Azad Kashmir has recorded 42,599 cases and 781 deaths.
