The Sindh High Court has summoned responses from the parties on the freezing of former President Dr. Arif Alvi and his family’s bank accounts, as reported by national media.
During the hearing in the Sindh High Court, Arif Alvi’s lawyer stated that the bank accounts of the former president, his wife, and children have been frozen. The FIA has frozen the entire family’s bank accounts based on an inquiry.
The court remarked that notices should be issued to the parties and their responses obtained. The lawyer said that freezing the entire family’s accounts has made it difficult to cover daily expenses. The court inquired whether fees have also been paid. The petitioner’s lawyer said that this case is being fought without any fee.
The Sindh High Court issued notices to the parties and asked for responses by June 5. In January 2025, another terrorism case was filed against former President Arif Alvi, while he had filed a request to obtain details of the cases.
The Prosecutor General of Sindh had submitted a report in the High Court stating that in 2018, a case was registered at Civil Lines Police Station for arson and rioting, but no case had been registered against him with the FIA.
The former president had filed a request for case details, and the court had also asked the federal government for case details. The court had barred the former president from arrest in various cases, including those in Mianwali.
