Court indicts former DG LDA Ahad Cheema in assets beyond means case

LAHORE: An accountability court has indicted former Lahore Development Authority (LDA), DG Ahad Cheema, in the assets beyond means case.

The indictment came, following the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) supplementary reference,  AC Judge Amjad Nazir Chaudhry indicted Ahad Cheema while the accused rejected the anti-corruption watchdog’s allegations and pleaded innocent.

The court summoned witnesses for testimonies. The hearing was adjourned till 13th January. As per NAB, Ahad Cheema made property worth billions of rupees in the name of his family members.

Moreover, The NAB had also filed a reference against Cheema and five others over their alleged role in the Ashiana Housing Scheme scam. The five others were Bismillah Engineering Company owner Shahid Shafiq, LDA chief engineer Israr Saeed, Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC) chief engineer Col Arif Majeed, former PLDC chief executive officer Imtiaz Haider and PLDC official Bilal Kidwai.
