ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad Court on Thursday extended interim bail of the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan till September 27 in long-March vandalism case.
Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti heard the case lodged against the former premier for vandalism committed during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-(PTI) Insaf’s May 25 Azadi March.
Babar Awan, Imran Khan’s legal representative, submitted a request to the sessions judge asking that the PTI Chairman be excused from making a personal appearance.
“Has the former premier joined the investigation,” the judge asked the investigating officer (IO). To this, the IO replied in affirmative.
While exempting the former premier from appearing in person, the court also prolonged his temporary bail until September 27.
It is pertinent to mention that a number of PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, and others, had been arrested by police in many FIRs pertaining to the Azadi March.
