ISLAMABAD: Police requested a local court in Islamabad on Thursday for orders to arrest Bushra Bibi, wife of former premier Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana forgery case.
Bushra Bibi along with her counsel appeared in the court of Additional Session Judge Taher Abbas Supra today.
During the hearing, the police requested the court to pass orders for Bushra’s arrest to continue the investigation in the case. The investigation officer informed the court that an audio file of the former first lady had been sent to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for analysis.
Salman Safdar, Bushra’s lawyer, argued that police summons the former first lady for investigation and instead makes her sit at the premises for hours. He also said that they have previously stated, during previous investigation summons, that the audio file does not belong to Bushra Bibi.
The court, in response, inquired about the origin of the audio and also directed that the case proceed in accordance with the filed FIR (First Information Report).

The investigation officer then requested the court for additional time to perform voice matching in the alleged audio.
Subsequently, the court approved the request for additional time for investigation and scheduled the next hearing for September 12. The court also extended Bushra Bibi’s bail until that date.
Earlier this week, an accountability court in Islamabad granted pre-arrest bail to Bushra Bibi till September 12.
