ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended the bail of former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon till 11th February in the Roshan Sindh corruption case.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing in which the judge asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) official regarding the date of an inquiry launched against Roshan Sindh case. To this, the official replied that the bureau launched the inquiry on 4th February 2019.
The judge asked why was the inquiry not reached an outcome. The court should be informed regarding the outcomes of the inquiry.
Earlier on 7th January, Sharjeel Memon challenged the bureau in the same case on basis of NAB Amendment Ordinance.
In his petition, Memon requested the IHC to declare the probe null and void, stop the further proceedings in the corruption case against him.
In November 2019, Memon was booked by the NAB in the Sindh Roshan Program. In September, the bureau filed an asset beyond income reference against him along with eleven other suspects.
The reference nominated Memon’s wives, Sadaf Sharjeel and Zeenat Inam Memon, as accused. Sharjeel Memon has already been charged over corruption charges of worth Rs5.76 billion in the Sindh information department.
