SRI LANKA: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared a national wide curfew which will come into effect from Friday 6 pm (March 20) till 6 am of March 23, in an effort to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the authorities of Sri Lanka declared a period of work from home for both public and private sectors beginning from 20 to 27 March.
The Sri Lankan government has adopted severe measures despite having only 53 coronavirus cases. During the curfew, only public transport and necessary services are allowed to pass through the affected regions.
Sri Lankan officials had already closed its international airports and put many areas under the police curfew, while also postponing the parliamentary elections.
