GILGIT BALTISTAN: Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has announced to close all private and public educational institutions till March 7 amid fears of Coronavirus spread in the region.
The education department on Tuesday issued a notification said that the decision has been taken as a preventive step aimed at stopping the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the GB area.
The notification further stated that Matric exams, which were planned for 4 March, have also been postponed. A new date for the exams will be issued later, the notification added.
Earlier today, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Tuesday confirmed a new coronavirus case, bringing the total to five in the country since last week.
Dr Zafar Mirza in his tweet had confirmed the 5th case of COVID19 in federal areas. The patient is stable and being managed well, the SAPM added.
The death toll in an outbreak of a new Coronavirus has reached more than 3,131 worldwide, the vast majority in mainland China and more than 92,182 people have been infected, causing a global alarm.
