KARACHI: The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan jumped to 1,235 on Friday after more cases were reported from Gilgit Baltistan, Lahore Sindh and Islamabad.
The health authorities have reported 40 new cases during the last 24 hours in the country. The disease has claimed nine lives across Pakistan whereas eight patients are reported to be in serious condition while, 30 patients were stated to be discharged from different hospitals after complete recovery.
Government’s static regarding coronavirus cases showed that the Sindh and Punjab provinces have remained the worst affected regions in the country, Sindh reported a total of 429 cases, while; Punjab witnessed a total of 408 cases of coronavirus.
Sindh
The provincial health authorities have reported a total of 429 confirmed coronavirus cases. So for 153 cases were reported in Karachi in which 102 are locally transmitted.
Most of the patients are pilgrims who returned to Pakistan from Iran. The provincial health department had started corona-case mapping.
The map shows that 41 cases are in Karachi’s Saddar Town, 10 in Nazimabad, 09 each in Gulberg and Jamshed Town, 15 in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, 07 in Liaquatabad, 04 in Malir, three each in Gadap and North Karachi and one in Orangi town area.
In this way out of 143 coronavirus cases in Karachi of which 102 are of local transmission the mapping of 122 cases had been made so for.
While provincial authorities had announced a complete lockdown in the province to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah had directed authorities to imposed complete closure of all shops from 8:00 pm to 8: 00 am to make the lockdown stricter in the metropolis. Although, pharmacies, medical stores and hospitals will remain open as usual.
Punjab
Punjab province has reported 408 confirmed cases with 66 cases in Lahore, 21 in Gujrat, 03 in Multan, 05 in Rawalpindi, three in Gujranwala, two in Sargodha, six in Hafizabad two in Lodhran and more from other palaces. According to officials, 286 out of a total of 170 patients have travel history. Punjab government had also imposed lockdown in the province by imposing section 144.
Balochistan
The health authorities of the Balochistan government had confirmed 131 coronavirus cases in the province whereas the provincial authorities had announced lockdown till April 7, taking preventive steps against the diseases. According to a heath official, there was no case of coronavirus reported in the province from Tuesday.
Earlier, the provincial Home and Tribal Affairs Department issued a notification stated Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code has been imposed.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The KP government has registered a total of 147 cases. While a lockdown had been imposed to limit the movement of the public due to the diseases spread.
Islamabad
Islamabad Capital Territory has confirmed 27 coronavirus cases. The administration had also announced the severe lockdown by suspending inter-city transport and shutting all kinds of shopping malls and restaurants.
GB, AJK
Adviser to chief minister GB Shams Mir has confirmed that the number of coronavirus patients in Gilgit-Baltistan has increased to 92.
While, AJK government had reported two cases of corona from different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the National Command and Control Centre for the novel COVID-19, the coronavirus has claimed nine lives includes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 03, Sindh: 01, Balochistan: 01, Gilgit-Baltistan: 01, Lahore: 01, Rawalpindi: 01. Kashmir: 01.
National Command and Control Centre for the novel COVID-19 said as many as 28 COVID-19 patients recovered including 14 in Sindh, 3 in Punjab, 2 each in Islamabad, two in Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with the recovery rate of 1.9 percent.
The novel COVID-19 infected 26 percent female and 64 percent male nationwide. Five patients are critical while, most the patients aged between 25 to 40, the National Command and Control Centre for the COVID-19, report disclosed.
