In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Punjab government has announced a cash reward of Rs100,000 for petrol bike owners who convert their vehicles into electric vehicles (EVs).
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb made the announcement on Monday, saying that motorcyclists who transition from petrol to electric bikes will receive the incentive.
Speaking at an event in Lahore, the minister also outlined the government’s new forestry policy, which allows citizens and industries to adopt parks and forests to help offset their carbon footprint.
She added that individuals will be eligible for financial incentives through the Environment Department’s Green Card Program by planting trees.
