ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked Sindh Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kaleem Imam, to continue with his duties until further development.
The move came after Sindh IG met the prime minister earlier where he informed Imran Khan about his reservation with the provincial government. Earlier, federal cabinet members belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and coalition partner Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) had expressed concerns over the issue of Sindh IG Kaleem Imam’s transfer.
The transfer was postponed as the federal cabinet handed over the matter to Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
Earlier, the Sindh cabinet decided to appoint a new IGP to replace Imam. The federal government had earlier snubbed a request from Sindh to remove Imam, saying he continued to serve as IGP until further notice.
