A police constable was killed in a terrorist attack on a police station in Lakki Marwat district late last night.
According to police sources, the attack took place at the Dara Pezo police station, where gunmen, using heavy weaponry and sniper rifles, opened fire from two directions. The gunfire fatally wounded Constable Karam Ullah.
A fierce gun battle followed, lasting for about an hour, during which the police mounted a strong response. After the exchange of fire, the attackers fled the scene. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
This incident comes just one day after three individuals, including a Punjab Police Sub-Inspector, were killed in a separate shooting in the Pahaṛ Khēl Pakha area of Lakki Marwat. Authorities reported that the slain officer was off-duty and at home when the attack occurred.
The Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have condemned the attack, expressing their condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims. The incident underscores the ongoing security challenges facing the region.
