ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the conspiracy to make Pakistan a scapegoat failed while the armed forces and all law enforcement agencies are on alert for Pakistan’s security.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Prime Minister Imran Khan had tried hard to persuade Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Uzbekistan. “Every corrupt person tries to flee the country,” he asserted.
Regarding the situation in Afghanistan, Sheikh Rashid added that the prime minister knew that Ashraf Ghani was deeply misunderstood. “Pakistan played a key role in bringing the United States and the Taliban to the negotiating table,” he added.
On security in the region, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that Pakistan is a very important country in the world. “We will not allow anyone to interfere in Pakistan. PM Imran Khan has directed to complete the visa process in one day,” he further added.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the Torkham and Chaman border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is very calm. It is up to the Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister Imran Khan to decide whether or not to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan, according to the minister.
Earlier, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, “We have taken the Afghan Taliban into confidence, while the situation on the border is satisfactory.” He added, “We have talked to the Taliban that Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan.”
