RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has visited the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
During the visit, the COAS was given a briefing over the current situation of coronavirus pandemic. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Hamooz uz Zaman received army chief.
Director-General NCOS Planning Asif Mahmood Goraya gave a briefing of the visiting dignitary about measures being taken to control the spread of the disease.
The army chief also appreciated the performance of the NCOC handling the pandemic. During the briefing, he said, “Pakistan Army will continue its cooperation with the civil institutions in the fight against the novel coronavirus.”
The COAS further said that NCOC’s role in the fight against COVID-19 is commendable. He maintained that the Army will continue its support to the civil institution even in the holy month of Ramzan.
Pakistan has reported 209 deaths from the novel coronavirus while the total number of cases has surged to 9,749. According to the National Command and Control Center, more than 533 cases of coronavirus were reported while 17 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 2,156 patients have recovered from the disease; however, the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
