Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the immediate construction of a medical college in Layyah.

Addressing a ceremony to distribute scholarships and laptops in Layyah on Friday, CM Nawaz said that the construction of a medical college would start immediately in Layyah. “Efforts are being made to ensure that no child is deprived of technology and education,” she said.

The chief minister said that this was her first year in the government, and as time passed, she would try to improve further. “I am accountable to you; this is your right, which you have received and should have received, and you should never have thanked me. It was your right,” she said while addressing the students.

She said that she had increased the number of scholarships from 30,000 to 50,000. And increased the number of laptops from 30,000 to 100,000 to be distributed every year. “I want you not to have to stretch your hands in front of anyone. If the state does not become a mother, it neglects its duties,” she asserted.
