The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has changed the name of the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Peshawar to Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
As per unconfirmed reports, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved the renaming of the stadium after Imran Khan.
Earlier, the provincial government decided that the Arbab Niaz Stadium would be named after PTI founder Imran Khan.
In this regard, the Sports Department has prepared a summary for changing the name of the stadium, and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amin Gandapur approved the summary, in which it is written that Arbab Niaz Stadium will be named Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
The summary for changing the name of the stadium will be presented in the cabinet meeting tomorrow, which is likely to be approved.
Arbab Niaz was a notable political figure in Pakistan, specifically known for his contributions during the regime of President Zia-ul-Haq. He served as a member of Zia’s cabinet in the capacity of Minister for Culture. His legacy is honored through the naming of Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar, which reflects his influence and significance in the region. The stadium was constructed in November 1984 and has since been a key venue for cricket in Pakistan, hosting numerous domestic and international matches.
