LAHORE: The resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is likely to be accepted today amid the ongoing political situation in the country.
The resignation of the Chief Minister of Punjab has been received by the Governor House and Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will inform the Assembly Secretariat regarding the approval of his resignation today.
Following the approval of Usman Bazdar’s resignation, the Assembly Secretariat will take steps to elect a new Chief Minister of Punjab, and a schedule for convening a meeting of the Assembly and electing a new Chief Minister will be issued.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, PM Imran Khan had met the Speaker of Punjab Assembly and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in Bani Gala in which an offer was made to make Pervaiz Elahi the Chief Minister of Punjab.

On the other hand, in view of the challenge of governance in Punjab, Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has started manipulating as soon as he reached Lahore. An important consultative meeting of senior provincial ministers of the Punjab government was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Chaudhry.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Muhammad Basharat Raja, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mahmood Rasheed, Zaheeruddin, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Sabteen Khan, Murad Ras, and Member Assembly Waseem Khan Badozai.
