Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Ali Zafar, has stated that Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi listened to their stance during the meeting but did not give any response.
According to a report by Geo News, opposition leaders met with Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, during which PTI leaders expressed their grievance about not being allowed to meet their imprisoned party chief, Imran Khan.
The Supreme Court also issued a statement regarding the meeting between PTI leaders and the Chief Justice of Pakistan. According to the statement, the meeting was attended by Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Barrister Ali Zafar, Barrister Salman Akram Raja, Latif Khosa, and Dr. Babar Awan.
Registrar Muhammad Saleem Khan and Secretary of the Law and Justice Commission, Tanzila Sabahat, assisted the Chief Justice during the meeting.
The meeting between the PTI delegation and the Chief Justice of Pakistan lasted for two hours.
Speaking on Geo News’ program Naya Pakistan, PTI senior leader Senator Ali Zafar said that the Chief Justice listened to their stance but did not respond. He mentioned that at the very beginning of the meeting, the Chief Justice made it clear that the agenda of the meeting was judicial reforms.
Barrister Ali Zafar further stated that the Chief Justice had said that they could say whatever they wanted, and he would not stop them, but he would not respond.
Additionally, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said that during the meeting, he informed the Chief Justice about the events of November 26. In response, the Chief Justice asked for legal suggestions, including the formation of a judicial commission.
Barrister Gohar said that the Chief Justice assured them that he would take steps to resolve these issues.
Salman Akram Raja said that during the meeting, he told the Chief Justice that court orders are not being taken seriously, and the judiciary should examine whether the justice system is being used as a tool. He also stated that human rights in the country have practically been abolished.
